Thumbnails in 2.9?!

Totally worth the update to WP 2.9 for me. I’m thinking I might just decide to start completely 100% over with the site. I have a new structure I’d like to try out, and actually make use of the tags as well as the categories. I may keep some older posts and repost them as time goes by. I don’t think anybody actually reads this thing as it is right now, anyway.

So, in the coming weeks/2-months, as I finish this blasted degree and start my real job (yay!), the site will probably be pretty boring, because I want to add things one at a time to make sure everything is clean and working and looking good. So many ideas, so little time– but May 9th is the freedom date.

Anyway, here’s the link on how to do thumbnails in WordPress 2.9.

Oh Magenta… You troublemaker you…

Not only is Magenta not really a color (see this article. It explains), but apparently it’s owned by T-Mobile. This is a really interesting, and a little frightening article about big-business starting to own rights to something as universal as color.

CS5 Already!?

I just got CS4 last year!! AAAHHH!

Here’s a sneak-peak preview of what’s coming up in CS5… interesting stuff with paint & warping. It’s a bit corny, but the techniques are cool.

(These guys found it first, I’m just passing it on to you.) Photoshop CS5 Sneak Peek Video: Wet Paints & Warp Tool | GoMediaZine.

“Add Link” Bookmarklet for Wordpress

I managed to find how to put an “Add Link” or “Link This” bookmarklet in my browser bar.  It needed a teeny update, so I thought I’d post how I did it, in hopes it might help somebody else.

The original was in this forum thread by “rileycentral” :

WordPress › Support » addlink bookmarklet gone?.

All I did was change the width of the popup window to 800px to allow for the new 2.7 admin layout.  You’ll need to change the url to your own, then copy and paste the code to your address bar and drag it into your bookmarks bar.  That’s what I did in Safari, anyway.  If there’s a better way– please let me know.

Fun with Fonts & Prettiness in my Admin!

I am officially posting in WordPress 2.7 Beta 1, and it is soo very pretty! I mean really– I just logged in and I’m blown away by the redesign and how everything is arranged.  So far I’m very impressed.  The media section is still a little buggy in Safari, right off the bat, but it is, after all, still a beta version.  I’m looking forward to looking around the rest of it…

Now, the Fun with Fonts, I was wanting to add a Typography blog to my list of RSS feeds, and #1 on Google was ilovetypography.com- so I clicked, and I was taken.  Tons and tons of info in the blog, and a super fun font game to play!  I got a 25/34 on my own, then I shared it with the lab and we played as a team and got 30.  Good times in the Mac Lab :)

So that’s all for today– enjoy!
