    Redu­plica­tive words are com­mon in Ara­bic.
    mish­mish means “apri­cot“
    fil­fil means “pep­per“
    There are many, many more like this. They do not seem to be derived from a dupli­ca­tion of a root. (the aren’t made by dupli­cat­ing the words “mish” or “fil”), and they aren’t asso­ci­ated with baby talk.
