The Woman in Black will be a 2-3 person show directed by Michelle Miller. If I'm not in it, I'll be involved somehow!

The Ariel Players presents: The Woman in Black; a ghost play by Stephen Mallatratt, from the book by Susan Hill.

The framework of this spine tingler is unusual: a lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to family and friends a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired when he attended the funeral of an elderly recluse. There he caught sight of the woman in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. Anyone who sees her dies! The lawyer has invited some friends to watch as he and the actor recreate the events of that dark and stormy night. A classic of the genre.

"A real theatrical spine chiller. . . . A truly nerve shredding experience."-Daily Mail.

"Provides a pleasurable ripple of fear down one's spine and an uncomfortable lurch in the pit of one's stomach."-Time Out.

"A brilliantly effective spine chiller.... The narrative is gripping."-Guardian.

"A gripping tale, grippingly told."-Financial Times.

Roat (Wes) explains the plan to Mike & Carlino (Steve & Jeff) at rehearsal.

Synopsis:

“A sinister con-man, Roat, and two ex-convicts, Mike and Carlino, are about to meet their match. They have traced the location of a mysterious doll, which they are much interested in, to the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Susy refuses to reveal its location, and with the help of a young neighbour, realizes she is the victim of a bizarre charade. She knows the only way to play fair is by her rules, and manages to find a way to level the playing field.”

- shortened considerably from the script synopsis.

Upcoming Christian Music Events

I love music and i love God, and nothing brings that together better than a good ol’ Christian rock concert. For those of you who haven’t discovered Christian rock, its just like regular rock music except with positive, uplifting lyrics in place of the hopeless and angry messages of maintstream rock. If you listen to the radio at all, you’ve surely heard the music of popular acts like P.O.D, Flyleaf, Switchfoot, Skillet, Red, Thousand Foot Krutch, and others who’ve brought their messages of faith into the mainstream. There are some great concerts in the area during the next month, such as:

Creation Festival: The Tour – Featuring Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, Fireflight, Worth Dying For, Run Kid Run, KJ-52, and more. Oct 10, 6 pm at the Charelston Municiple Auditorium, tickets $20. OR Oct 30, 7pm at the Grove City Nazerene church (4770 Hoover Rd, Grove City, OH). Tickets for that show are $23 in advance, $28 at the door. These are some of the biggest names in Christian Rock and you’ll be in for an experience.

Fireflight will also be at the Maranatha Fellowship church in St. Albans (2910 Kanawha Terrace) on Sept. 18. Tickets are just $5. Call 304-722-6271 for more info.

Family Force 5 is playing the Newport Music Hall in Columbus (1722 N. High Street, between Short North and OSU campus) on Oct. 19. Tickets just $13. FF5 brings a style like no other with their unique blend of metal, rap, dance, and energetic stage presence.

Pneumafest 2008 – Decyfer Down, 33 Miles, Instereo, and others. Sept. 26 and 27 at West Williamson Softball Park, on Parkway Drive in Williamson, WV. Tickets $7, both nigths $12. Have personally seen both Decyfer Down and 33 Miles, they’re more local-oriented acts, but both put on good shows.

By the way, my church, Fellowship of Faith, is having it’s Grand Opening celebration at our new worship center on Sunday, Sept. 28. Located at the junction of SR 325 and 554 right outside of Rio Grande, OH (just 2 miles from URG), they offer a contemporary worship experience geared towards people who just don’t get much from traditional churches. We have an amazing, modern auditorium with a live band every morning, coffee and breakfast bar, kid and youth services, and special events all the time such as our yearly RYTHMfest concert (bringing in mega-bands like Flyleaf, Disciple, Kutless, Red, Day of Fire, and more). Sunday services are at 9 and 10:30 a.m. If you’re looking for an exciting and uplifting worship experience that doesnt make you feel like an outsider, this is the place!
