YouTube — The Woman In Black. This is the play we’re doing TONIGHT, TOMORROW NIGHT and SUNDAY AFTERNOON at the Ariel TheÂatre! This is actuÂally for the verÂsion that’s been playÂing in LonÂdon since 1989, and really makes me want to go to EngÂland to see how it’s done!
I got to sit in on my first rehearsal last night, and the boys are comÂing along nicely. Lines are being learned and actions getÂting set. It’s going to be a great show! Read the rest of this entry »
From the direcÂtor of the Ariel’s proÂducÂtions of “MisÂery” and “Wait Until Dark,” Gallia’s resÂiÂdent masÂter of terÂror Michelle Miller, comes this chillÂing clasÂsic ghost story — “The Woman in Black” adapted by Stephen MalÂlaÂtratt, from the book by Susan Hill. StarÂring Stephen SisÂson and WesÂley JackÂson. Read the rest of this entry »
Roat (Wes) explains the plan to Mike & CarÂlino (Steve & Jeff) at rehearsal.
SynÂopÂsis:
“A sinÂisÂter con-man, Roat, and two ex-convicts, Mike and CarÂlino, are about to meet their match. They have traced the locaÂtion of a mysÂteÂriÂous doll, which they are much interÂested in, to the GreenÂwich VilÂlage apartÂment of Sam HenÂdrix and his blind wife, Susy. Susy refuses to reveal its locaÂtion, and with the help of a young neighÂbour, realÂizes she is the vicÂtim of a bizarre chaÂrade. She knows the only way to play fair is by her rules, and manÂages to find a way to level the playÂing field.”Â
- shortÂened conÂsidÂerÂably from the script synopsis.
I’m not sure, but I think I’ve got Steve talked in to driÂving to ColumÂbus to see Jay in Jekyll & Hyde!! I’ve been watchÂing the videos on the Hilliard Arts CounÂcil webÂsite and the funny one on the FaceÂbook Event page! I’m super excited, even if our Jay is “just” a choÂrus boy  The music and voices sounded great!
It’s this FriÂday and SatÂurÂday. You can see more inforÂmaÂtion here. Jekyll has some amazÂing music anyÂway. If you can’t see the show I recÂomÂmend buyÂing the CD. But once you lisÂten to the CD you’ll wish you’d seen the show!
I’m going in half for the gas, but I think the ticket is my birthÂday present this year (ya know, besides getÂting to be at Civil War rehearsal on the day of… joy).
May 9th & 10th at 7:00pm at the Rio Grande Fine and PerÂformÂing Arts Centre.
Tom & Meg have been marÂried for years and years, but Tom fell for one of the “occuÂpaÂtional hazÂards” of being a middle-aged-assistant-English-professor, and is now sufÂferÂing the conÂseÂquences. Now Meg is demandÂing divorce, and is movÂing into the apartÂment down the hall.
Tom is tired of livÂing on cold food and bean sprouts, and is tryÂing to get Meg back. Meg’s best friend has set her up on a blind date with Roger Egan, the talkÂaÂtive author of books on marÂriage & divorce. GorÂdon, the young mainÂteÂnance man of the buildÂing, is also tryÂing to get in on the action as he helps Meg get setÂtled in.
Watch the madÂness unfold as Meg and Tom try to figÂure out how to live apart, GorÂdon tries to go for divorce numÂber 4, and Roger tells the woeÂful tale of his ex-wife and the VarÂsity SwimÂming team…
Tom Owens : Steve SisÂson
Meg Owens : JesÂsica ThompÂson
GorÂdon… GorÂdon : Eric FarÂley
Roger Egan : John “JD” Markley
Directed by Michelle Miller, put on by ShiftÂing Stage.
YesÂterÂday wasn’t very proÂducÂtive. Got back from Audrey about the job, I defÂiÂnitely still have it, and we offiÂcially start work next week. That’s good. I tried to install a few pluÂgÂins for makÂing some extra cash and makÂing the biz work a litÂtle more smoothly. The AMM AmaÂzon pluÂgin was one of them, I just need to make a new temÂplate. I’m always tryÂing to get away from the A-Store, for the same reaÂsons I like to run my own blog. I guess I’m someÂthing of a control-freak when it comes to this stuff. I also tried to do the PrestoGifto Cafe Press pluÂgin again, and I couldn’t get it to work, again. The third has some promise, Instinct’s E-Commerce pluÂgin. I’ve played with it before, it has so much to it, it’s like adding a whole other proÂgram that just hapÂpens to use the WordÂPress admin area. My main probÂlem was that I was tryÂing to do 3 things at once. I did get some groovy “a pixel’s a pixel” prodÂucts on my Cafe Press store. I’ll have to add a link.
Need to do someÂthing to the index page. I think I may just conÂdense EVERYTHING into wordÂpress pages, now that I’m getÂting into makÂing new temÂplates. I defÂiÂnitely think I’ll make WordÂpress my speÂcialty. Oh, and truejeska.com also rediÂrects here now. I just couldn’t let it go.Â
Today is my first Holzer-Free day. And since we’re fast approachÂing the end of school, I’ll be spendÂing it putting together my Art HisÂtory portÂfoÂlio & writÂing my paper on Time ManÂageÂment for WellÂness (that’s a laugh– I told him that was a good subÂject for me), then my social-interraction for the day so I don’t get crazy-cabin-fever. BroÂken Up play pracÂtice at 4, then a bunch of us are going to ParkÂersÂburg to preÂview Civil War (This Year’s SumÂmer Musical.)Â
I’m glad I’m doing BroÂken Up, it’s a small comÂedy with a perÂfect rehearsal schedÂule & it’s givÂing me a warm-up after my year-long theÂatre break. It’s also offiÂcially put me in ShiftÂing Stage, besides “offiÂcial graphic designer.” Michelle actuÂally wrote a play with me, Steve, Eric & JD in mind– I just got done readÂing it, it’s weird. You can totally tell it was writÂten for us. The main girl’s name is Jessie and she’s a 23 year old theÂatre major, the main guy is Adam, and he’s a 28 year old workÂing on his EngÂlish MasÂters. Had to change our majors from Art & Opera to not make it “too” obviÂous, I guess.Â
Okay– so I’m totally avoidÂing my Art HisÂtory portÂfoÂlio. I have a lot of notes to transÂfer to InDeÂsign. Off I go…Â
Alright, so this blog is going to be for work news, and show news. We ♥ the Arts =)
So, the litÂtle one, the tall one and myself went to see GalÂlia AcadÂemy put on Beauty and the Beast the MusiÂcal last night. It was a pretty good time, Reni does really well at musiÂcals. She sat and watched the whole thing (3/4 of it on my lap) and shooshed us almost conÂstantly. She was getÂting pretty tired by the end– but she said she really liked it. It was also pretty cool that we knew most of the kids playÂing the lead parts. HanÂnah (Mrs. Potts), Andy (Papa), Kegan (GasÂton), Chelsea (“Silly Girl” ha ha), Cassie (The other “Silly Girl” hahaha)… & Carly and Alena in the choÂrus, and Allyson in the pit playÂing flute (WOOT!) all did great, as did the othÂers that we didn’t know. It was a good show.
Big thanks to the FulÂton Fam for givÂing us their spare tickets!
Here she is with KrisÂten Lynn and Jeremy, aka Beauty and the Beast themÂselves. She really wanted her pic taken with Belle. I think I’m going to give a copy of this one to Dad to put up in his room for when KrisÂten comes to class!
And of course, with her “Best Friend” Chelsea!
Eric and Wes were.… well.… FANTASTIC in CapÂtain FanÂtasÂtic! And the kid who played the hero wasn’t too shabby himÂself. EveryÂbody did a pretty good job. Steve, Reni and I went– meetÂing Audrey, CoCo & FamÂily (because Lori was in it too! YAY LORI!) and CoCo’s boyfriend.
It was a really cute show. My favorite part was the “DraÂmatic Pose.” Eric was a riot. It’s a danÂgerÂous thing askÂing him to ad-lib, but it’s always fun in the end. Wes was such a cutie, of course. The whole bucket thing was great, and he was a too-cool-for-the-room janÂiÂtor. Oh, I’m sorry– “MainÂteÂnance EngiÂneer.” Reni liked the secÂond act with all the super hero stuff going on, the first and third were a litÂtle difÂfiÂcult, but we made it through to the last five minÂutes or so in our seats before she was bound and deterÂmined to escape.
I got this picÂture of them as we were leavÂing in their hats. She mostly just wanted popÂcorn, which Audrey got some of for her at the end. That was way too nice. But yeah, this picÂture was right before we went out to get his jumper cables…
My car died at K-Mart. A half hour before we were supÂposed to meet everyÂbody at the Ariel. It wasn’t startÂing at all. So we had walked to Dairy Queen to get someÂthing to eat, and try and call Steve over and over until he finally called me back. He came and got us to take us to the show. After the show we borÂrowed Eric’s jumper cables– which didn’t work, but after a litÂtle digÂging Steve was able to find some in his sister’s vehiÂcle, which he’s been driÂving since he wrecked on WednesÂday. He manÂaged to jump it, and after cleanÂing the acid off the batÂtery it started withÂout any trouÂble. HowÂever, it wouldn’t stay runÂning. We had to call his dad, so I finally got to meet his dad– (great cirÂcumÂstances, eh?) and he said it sounded like a probÂlem with the fuel… even though when he drove it worked fine. He did hear the sputÂterÂing probÂlem though after Steve started it once, so I know now that it isn’t just me– no matÂter what my parÂents might tell me later.
AnyÂway, the car’s at their church now, his dad manÂaged to drive it that far and I was afraid to try to drive it the rest of the way, because every time I tried to drive it would start to sputÂter and quit on me. Then Steve brought us home.
Just found out ThursÂday that I’m playÂing “MisÂtress Ford” in the school’s proÂducÂtion of Merry Wives of WIndÂsor that I audiÂtioned for. That’s pretty sweet, it’s just the right size for me, I think. I’ve never actuÂally had to memÂoÂrize a ShakeÂspear before, so this will be excitÂing! I’m the 3rd most promiÂnant woman in the play, just after MisÂtress Page, and Waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy after my ShowÂboat Friend Audry! She’s playÂing MisÂtress Quickly, and she has a TON of lines… And just barely above my other ShowÂboat Friend Alena, she’s playÂing the love interÂest, the young Anne Page (I knew she would– she’s perÂfect for it!)
AnyÂway, I’m in 7 scenes, and I only have one long line. The main charÂacÂter, John FallÂstaff, has found himÂself in sort of a slump, and has cooked up this plan to woo myself and MisÂtress Page at the same time for our Husband’s money. He didn’t count on us being friends and telling each other about it, howÂever. And, since we didn’t like him too much to begin with, we spend the rest of the play findÂing new ways to humilÂiÂate him, and end up havÂing fun deceivÂing our husÂbands as well…
So, this is the perÂfect, deviÂous role for me! I’m really going to enjoy this, I think
Show Boat MemoÂrÂial Choir starts TOMORROW! I’m really excited about that too! I can’t wait to get back into my Show Boat family!
Alena was tryÂing to conÂvince me to get into MasÂterÂworks Chorale at Rio, but with Band, Merry Wives and SBMC, I think I’ll have enough to keep me busy as far as keepÂing myself artisÂticly active goes. Maybe next SemesÂter… But Steve’s also telling me that Music TheÂory isn’t as scary as I thought it was when I was in it before… so I might go into that next SemesÂter… I do really miss Dr. Kenney!
We’ll see what hapÂpens, I still have quite a bit of time before I have to worry about next Semester’s classes…
Okay, I have some cleanÂing to do… so away I go.
