YouTube — The Woman In Black

YouTube — The Woman In Black. This is the play we’re doing TONIGHT, TOMORROW NIGHT and SUNDAY AFTERNOON at the Ariel Theatre! This is actually for the version that’s been playing in London since 1989, and really makes me want to go to England to see how it’s done!

Woman in Black Update

Wait Until Dark — February 6, 7 & 8

Roat (Wes) explains the plan to Mike & Carlino (Steve & Jeff).

Roat (Wes) explains the plan to Mike & Carlino (Steve & Jeff) at rehearsal.

Synopsis:

“A sinister con-man, Roat, and two ex-convicts, Mike and Carlino, are about to meet their match. They have traced the location of a mysterious doll, which they are much interested in, to the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Susy refuses to reveal its location, and with the help of a young neighbour, realizes she is the victim of a bizarre charade. She knows the only way to play fair is by her rules, and manages to find a way to level the playing field.”

Jekyll & Hyde at the Hilliard Davidson High School

I’m not sure, but I think I’ve got Steve talked in to driving to Columbus to see Jay in Jekyll & Hyde!!  I’ve been watching the videos on the Hilliard Arts Council website and the funny one on the Facebook Event page!  I’m super excited, even if our Jay is “just” a chorus boy :)   The music and voices sounded great!

It’s this Friday and Saturday.  You can see more information here.  Jekyll has some amazing music anyway.  If you can’t see the show I recommend buying the CD.  But once you listen to the CD you’ll wish you’d seen the show!

I’m going in half for the gas, but I think the ticket is my birthday present this year (ya know, besides getting to be at Civil War rehearsal on the day of… joy).

Anyway, I’ll let you know!

Broken Up– A Comedy in 3 Acts by Nick Hall

Broken Up Poster
May 9th & 10th at 7:00pm at the Rio Grande Fine and Performing Arts Centre.

Tom & Meg have been married for years and years, but Tom fell for one of the “occupational hazards” of being a middle-aged-assistant-English-professor, and is now suffering the consequences. Now Meg is demanding divorce, and is moving into the apartment down the hall.

Tom is tired of living on cold food and bean sprouts, and is trying to get Meg back. Meg’s best friend has set her up on a blind date with Roger Egan, the talkative author of books on marriage & divorce. Gordon, the young maintenance man of the building, is also trying to get in on the action as he helps Meg get settled in.

Watch the madness unfold as Meg and Tom try to figure out how to live apart, Gordon tries to go for divorce number 4, and Roger tells the woeful tale of his ex-wife and the Varsity Swimming team…

Plays & Playing.

Yesterday wasn’t very productive. Got back from Audrey about the job, I definitely still have it, and we officially start work next week. That’s good. I tried to install a few plugins for making some extra cash and making the biz work a little more smoothly. The AMM Amazon plugin was one of them, I just need to make a new template. I’m always trying to get away from the A-Store, for the same reasons I like to run my own blog. I guess I’m something of a control-freak when it comes to this stuff. I also tried to do the PrestoGifto Cafe Press plugin again, and I couldn’t get it to work, again. The third has some promise, Instinct’s E-Commerce plugin. I’ve played with it before, it has so much to it, it’s like adding a whole other program that just happens to use the WordPress admin area. My main problem was that I was trying to do 3 things at once. I did get some groovy “a pixel’s a pixel” products on my Cafe Press store. I’ll have to add a link.

Need to do something to the index page. I think I may just condense EVERYTHING into wordpress pages, now that I’m getting into making new templates. I definitely think I’ll make Wordpress my specialty. Oh, and truejeska.com also redirects here now. I just couldn’t let it go.

Today is my first Holzer-Free day. And since we’re fast approaching the end of school, I’ll be spending it putting together my Art History portfolio & writing my paper on Time Management for Wellness (that’s a laugh– I told him that was a good subject for me), then my social-interraction for the day so I don’t get crazy-cabin-fever. Broken Up play practice at 4, then a bunch of us are going to Parkersburg to preview Civil War (This Year’s Summer Musical.)

I’m glad I’m doing Broken Up, it’s a small comedy with a perfect rehearsal schedule & it’s giving me a warm-up after my year-long theatre break. It’s also officially put me in Shifting Stage, besides “official graphic designer.” Michelle actually wrote a play with me, Steve, Eric & JD in mind– I just got done reading it, it’s weird. You can totally tell it was written for us. The main girl’s name is Jessie and she’s a 23 year old theatre major, the main guy is Adam, and he’s a 28 year old working on his English Masters. Had to change our majors from Art & Opera to not make it “too” obvious, I guess.

Okay– so I’m totally avoiding my Art History portfolio. I have a lot of notes to transfer to InDesign. Off I go…

The End.

Beauty & The Beast

Alright, so this blog is going to be for work news, and show news. We ♥ the Arts =)

So, the little one, the tall one and myself went to see Gallia Academy put on Beauty and the Beast the Musical last night. It was a pretty good time, Reni does really well at musicals. She sat and watched the whole thing (3/4 of it on my lap) and shooshed us almost constantly. She was getting pretty tired by the end– but she said she really liked it. It was also pretty cool that we knew most of the kids playing the lead parts. Hannah (Mrs. Potts), Andy (Papa), Kegan (Gaston), Chelsea (“Silly Girl” ha ha), Cassie (The other “Silly Girl” hahaha)… & Carly and Alena in the chorus, and Allyson in the pit playing flute (WOOT!) all did great, as did the others that we didn’t know. It was a good show.

Big thanks to the Fulton Fam for giving us their spare tickets!

Reni, Kristen & Jeremy
Here she is with Kristen Lynn and Jeremy, aka Beauty and the Beast themselves. She really wanted her pic taken with Belle. I think I’m going to give a copy of this one to Dad to put up in his room for when Kristen comes to class!

Reni and
And of course, with her “Best Friend” Chelsea!

Great Show, Bad Car.

Eric and Wes were.… well.… FANTASTIC in Captain Fantastic! And the kid who played the hero wasn’t too shabby himself. Everybody did a pretty good job. Steve, Reni and I went– meeting Audrey, CoCo & Family (because Lori was in it too! YAY LORI!) and CoCo’s boyfriend.

It was a really cute show. My favorite part was the “Dramatic Pose.” Eric was a riot. It’s a dangerous thing asking him to ad-lib, but it’s always fun in the end. Wes was such a cutie, of course. The whole bucket thing was great, and he was a too-cool-for-the-room janitor. Oh, I’m sorry– “Maintenance Engineer.” Reni liked the second act with all the super hero stuff going on, the first and third were a little difficult, but we made it through to the last five minutes or so in our seats before she was bound and determined to escape.
DSCN1534

I got this picture of them as we were leaving in their hats. She mostly just wanted popcorn, which Audrey got some of for her at the end. That was way too nice. But yeah, this picture was right before we went out to get his jumper cables…

My car died at K-Mart. A half hour before we were supposed to meet everybody at the Ariel. It wasn’t starting at all. So we had walked to Dairy Queen to get something to eat, and try and call Steve over and over until he finally called me back. He came and got us to take us to the show. After the show we borrowed Eric’s jumper cables– which didn’t work, but after a little digging Steve was able to find some in his sister’s vehicle, which he’s been driving since he wrecked on Wednesday. He managed to jump it, and after cleaning the acid off the battery it started without any trouble. However, it wouldn’t stay running. We had to call his dad, so I finally got to meet his dad– (great circumstances, eh?) and he said it sounded like a problem with the fuel… even though when he drove it worked fine. He did hear the sputtering problem though after Steve started it once, so I know now that it isn’t just me– no matter what my parents might tell me later.
Anyway, the car’s at their church now, his dad managed to drive it that far and I was afraid to try to drive it the rest of the way, because every time I tried to drive it would start to sputter and quit on me. Then Steve brought us home.

Merry Wives of Windsor

Just found out Thursday that I’m playing “Mistress Ford” in the school’s production of Merry Wives of WIndsor that I auditioned for. That’s pretty sweet, it’s just the right size for me, I think. I’ve never actually had to memorize a Shakespear before, so this will be exciting! I’m the 3rd most prominant woman in the play, just after Mistress Page, and Waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy after my Showboat Friend Audry! She’s playing Mistress Quickly, and she has a TON of lines… And just barely above my other Showboat Friend Alena, she’s playing the love interest, the young Anne Page (I knew she would– she’s perfect for it!)

Anyway, I’m in 7 scenes, and I only have one long line. The main character, John Fallstaff, has found himself in sort of a slump, and has cooked up this plan to woo myself and Mistress Page at the same time for our Husband’s money. He didn’t count on us being friends and telling each other about it, however. And, since we didn’t like him too much to begin with, we spend the rest of the play finding new ways to humiliate him, and end up having fun deceiving our husbands as well…

So, this is the perfect, devious role for me! I’m really going to enjoy this, I think :D

Show Boat Memorial Choir starts TOMORROW! I’m really excited about that too! I can’t wait to get back into my Show Boat family!

Alena was trying to convince me to get into Masterworks Chorale at Rio, but with Band, Merry Wives and SBMC, I think I’ll have enough to keep me busy as far as keeping myself artisticly active goes. Maybe next Semester… But Steve’s also telling me that Music Theory isn’t as scary as I thought it was when I was in it before… so I might go into that next Semester… I do really miss Dr. Kenney!

We’ll see what happens, I still have quite a bit of time before I have to worry about next Semester’s classes…

Okay, I have some cleaning to do… so away I go.

Lotsa Love ;)
